Fishing report Mississippi 8/19/10

I have spent the last couple of days on the Mississippi, Yesterday, I had some clients on board and we slayed some fish. We had an easy 100 fish day with just about every species caught along the way. Crappie, Smallmouth, Sauger, Catfish, Drum, Silver bass with the big fish of the day being a 24" Walleye weighing out at 5.2lb being caught by Tony which was his personal best. Unfortunate  it came out of his hands and back in the water before I could get a picture of it. Derek his buddy took a picture of it before it hit the water... it is the first picture you see. Derek sent me a short note with it saying "Thanks again for taking me and Tony fishing last Wednesday, we had tons of fun. Here is the pic of Tony's walleye, I think it was a hair over 24 and he is still pretty excited about it. Derek." 8/18/10.

Today, 8/19/10  I had a few hours to burn so I went back on the Mississippi and caught about 50 fish of every kind of species again the same as the above. However the big Walleye today was 26" 6.70lb and a Mississippi baby Walleye 17". and a couple others that I released because they all start to look a like. I only had three hours to burn. The fishing on Pool 2  is all catch and release and this is were I have been for the last couple of day's and the fishing in Prescott pool 3 were you can keep and eat the fish are producing some really nice Walleyes. All I can say is the fishing on the Mississippi has been non stop catching. The picture's of the fish caught today are below. The next couple of months ahead Sept. and Oct. can be some of the best fishing it really starts to pick up from here on till freeze up.

Tony with his 24" Walleye. His biggest Walleye to date. Nice job Tony !!!
