The story behind the video. First, let me apologize for the editing and length of the video. This last Wednesday, I decided to go on an exploratory Crappie hunt on the St. Croix River in my Kayak. The day I wished I had brought my GoPro camera. I thought that there might not be much to film so completely filmed on my iPhone which I might add didn't end up in the water luckily so thats good. Armed with kayak and iPhone an Ultralight rod & Reel 4lb test a 1/16 jig and a plastic grub and my PFD headed out. Here is where the problem lies. Filming, trolling motor, boat traffic 4lb mono, and an Ultralight rod while reeling a really decent size STRONG Sturgeon. The actual video is over an hour in length and not much to see because I had to keep setting the phone down either to reel or chase the fish. In the begging.. what wasn't on this video was this Sturgeon jumped up as soon as it was hooked and landed across the very front end of the Kayak. That was an intense moment because of the size of the fish. A good 3 1/2 feet in length. No problem with the Kayak. I bought the NuCanoe because of extreme stability but still intense. The sturgeon was foul hooked in the top of the head as well. No harm to the fish and released right away and never left the water so no other stress to occur. She sure was beautiful.
